ABOUT ME
My name is Archie Tompson, and I'm a young, aspiring Racing Driver who recently got a taste of the exhilarating world of motorsport through the JSCC (Junior Saloon Car Championship). This nationwide series revolves around racing Citroen Saxo VTRs. My motorsport journey began at a young age when I started Go Karting. I remember the excitement of getting behind the wheel of a Peugeot 106 when I was just nine years old.At the age of 11, I tried my hand at oval racing championships, and by my third season, I managed to secure the championship title.
I also partook in drifting for three of years, passing my final exam at the Pro Drift Academy in Fife, Scotland. During this time, I had the opportunity to participate in the Ginetta Scholarship, where I reached the finals for two consecutive years. It was an amazing experience to receive guidance from Charlie Robertson, a renowned Ginetta Factory Le Mans driver.
In 2021, I had the privilege to compete in the Junior Saloon Car Championship, which proved to be a significant learning curve for me. The competition featured some highly skilled drivers, but there were also a few who were still learning. Navigating through the pack was both thrilling and challenging, and I had some great races along the way. Our team, thanks to Jeakins Race Preparations, managed to keep my car in racing condition despite sustaining various levels of damage. The field was quite competitive, and every race's first corner was always an interesting place to be.
As I reflect on my racing journey thus far, I am filled with an insatiable hunger to continue pursuing my passion in the upcoming 2023/2024 season. The experiences I have gained, the challenges I have overcome, and the victories I have celebrated have only fueled my desire to push the boundaries further. With the lessons learned from the Junior Saloon Car Championship and the unwavering support of my team, I am determined to elevate my skills, showcase my racing prowess, and strive for a successful season ahead.
I would like to express my gratitude to the organizers and everyone involved in making my previous fantastic opportunities possible.
Thank you sincerely,
Archie

The Track Car Build
The idea of the drift car build was to give me a basis to practise and develop new skills with car control.
I started off by locating the 2004 3.5l v6 Nissan 350z on auto trader in 2019. After locating the car it then proceeding to sit on the back burner as we had other projects and were doing a seasons racing so this was not a top priority.
Work on the car roughly started in late 2020 early 2021 throughout lockdown in which we put a full FIA cage in the car, with the help of our mechanic we welded the differential and fitted a hydraulic handbrake. To cope with the hydro we fitted 2 sets of callipers on the rear so that the standard callipers don't overheat as I left foot brake. Finally we fitted racing seats and belts.
So far we have done quite a bit in the car, i took it down too Goodwood for the FOS, i attended Shelsley Walsh Hill Climb and i was a proud guest at both Forge Motorsports - Breakfast club and Action day.

We also took the car up Shelsley Walsh Hillclimb the worlds oldest form of motorsport and my local track. We attended the Yaris GR demo day there and took the 350z, the day went well and I was building confidence as this was my first time driving the car at speed and not sideways.
We put fresh racing slicks on the car and around mid day it decided to tip it down when I was on the start, so in classic fashion I stuck with it and went for it. Coming through the top ess she kicked out sideways in a lovely slide just missing the grass bank by mm, I kept her in control straightened her up and carried on. Looking across I saw dad with his hand across his face and holding onto the cage in fear. What a day that was!
